June 4th edit: I repainted Renji's bandanna and added a bit of a border.

Oh my gosh, I have not been this happy with the final version of a painting in a long time. For once I actually like how everything turned out... and that rarely happens with me... so NO critique please, I don't want my happiness to be spoiled by unnoticed mistakes.

Anyway, this started off as a simple portrait that went a bit crazy. At one point I even had Ichigo and Hitsugaya in it but it looked to crowed so I removed them.

Renji's hair did turn out a bit crazy looking too but I kind of liked the look, so I kept it. Byakuya was thrown it just because I can't get enough of him. *randomly power glomps*

Rukia is based from chapter 150 where she's facing her impending death. With Renji I was trying to show his fear and helplessness at not being able to save her. Byakuya, on the outside simply looks as if he doesn't care, but on the inside.... well I won't give anymore away.
That was the idea anyway. ^^;


Painted completely in photoshop.
Renji and Byakuya's faces were referenced/inspired from some of ~feimos amazing works.
Time: off and on for a month or so.
Original size: 3295 x 5689 px (huge ain't it?)
Critique not desired

Hmm, if I must crit, I think that the.....HA! gotcha there didn't I? :XD: I would be happy with ths result too, I thought another one of *heise's works showed up in my inbox for a second there :shocked:

:lol: Yes, sometimes (for me at least) critique is not always a good thing. I know it helps improve ones own art but sometimes its a let down on the actual work... some works I have never been able to look at the same again... until I fixed them that is. ^^

Wow, that is a compliment though... to me heise is one of my favourite artists out there.

This is great! You have improved a lot recently. I am NOT a Bleach fan (due to the redundant writing) but I would actually buy a print of this if it were in my price range. (I am super cheap so that I would consider it is like most people actually buying it)

You are truly welcome. I am simply amazed by Renji's face, they all however look so real, but Renji blows me away. You did him perfectly. And Byakuya looks so realistic, it's rather stunning. I also happen to like the way you did Rukia's eyes, they are really well designed.
Overall, a perfect piece. :nod:

Hehee, its funny you should mention Renji's face. For the longest time he looked very much like a girl ^^; I added some stubble to his face (you can't see it in this smaller version though) and darkened his jawline just a bit... I guess that helped. :D
