Commissioned for of his elven sorceress character Quinn. This one gave me a chance to paint a snowy winter background which made me very excited because there was no grass or trees. Anyway I am really pleased with how she turned out, especially her face (which I repainted so many times I lost count).
I think this is a great piece of work. I'm glad to see an elf that's not nearly naked for a change. I keep coming back to her top garment and the pommel stone on her sword. They are both very interesting to me.
Thanks. I do have a few tutorials in my gallery. One is a hair painting one and the other is a basic painting one. The second one may have been done a fair amount of time ago, but my techniques mentioned there are the same.
And notice while perusing my adoration of fantasy artwork...
That this looks rather like Liv Tyler. XD Look at the face... do you see it? So I was wondering if you draw everything completely freehand or use model imagery to help with poses/anatomy, ect.?
Hmm, I never noticed the Liv Tyler resemblance. In some cases yes I do use pose references (usually from stock accounts here on DA) and when I do I make sure to list its location and the photographer in the artists comments.
Thanks for letting me know.
